Relocating to U.S. cost me marriage, stardom –Toyin Haastrup

Nollywood actress, Toyin Haastrup has expressed the price she had to pay for relocating to the United States of America.

Haastrup, who has been in the United States of America for ten years as a citizen, recently revealed how her relocation cost her stardom and her longtime relationship.

Admitting that the U.S. has favoured her in every sense, Haastrup says she has no regrets but made some sacrifices to be in the country.

“In my journey in life, I don’t regret anything. If whatever I planned doesn’t come out as I planned I learn from it. In other words, I don’t regret it. I always move to the next phase from lessons learned. The sacrifice I’ve made so far as a woman and as an actress is that if I hadn’t left Nigeria for the U.S, I would have gotten married or become a popular star. And the biggest sacrifice is losing my longtime relationship as a result of my relocation,” she said.

The Osun state indigene and Olabisi Onabanjo University graduate added that fate was responsible for her relocation.

“I was opportune to feature in a film titled “Osumare” and that was my first major role which brought limelight. I was nominated along with notable actors to come for the stage play performance presentation in the U.S and that was how my journey to the USA happened,” she reveals.

Haastrup started acting in 2009 under the watchful eyes of Murphy Afolabi.

She revealed that she’s currently working on two movies scheduled for release. The two films, according to Haastrup, are ‘Osanle,’ and ‘Weyinwo.’
